The Corryvreckan

Client: JD Wetherspoon plc
Location: Oban, UK
Project Completion: January 2014
Area: 679m²
Project Value: £1.5million

Wetherspoons acquired a prominent site on the harbour in Oban. A cosy environment was created where visitors could sit in comfort and warmth and watch the comings and goings of the port and the often wild weather. The bar acts as a focal point and is based around a ‘found objects’ theme, using odd whiskey crates, rust effect corrugated metal and mesh to form the back bar display. The front counter is clad in drawer fronts with card holders, which display the names and ages of whiskeys from the Oban distillery. Local shipping forecasts are sign written around the pub. The ceiling offered three pyramid apexes which were clad and used to add drama and height to the space.
